How will my short term fast affect my body?
Background Info: 21 year old Chinese-American. 5'10 156 pounds (~6% body fat)

I'm thinking about doing a standard 24 hour fast every Saturday (Friday dinner to Saturday) for the rest of my life for both spiritual and health reasons. I'm a Christian, and it seems like a valuable spiritual discipline. In addition, there seems to be a lot of great health benefits that come with short term fasting. I just have a couple quick questions I was hoping someone with a bit of expertise might be able to answer:

Most literature I've found seems to support the health benefits of one day fasting except for this guy: http://drbenkim.com/fasting-fast-one-day-week.htm Any thoughts?
Does fasting affect low body fat people (I'm 6%) differently? I lift weights a couple times a week, and I'm slightly concerned that fasting might be more detrimental to muscle growth given the lack of fat reserves my body has.
Does it make sense to exercise during the fast day to reduce any potential muscle loss?
What are the major health differences I'm likely to experience regarding whether I make this a dry fast or a normal fast?

I believe that one-day fasts can be very healthy and cleansing. I've only done it a few times myself, and not in many years, but I remember feeling great after each one. I'd recommend that you try it a few times without worrying about making a commitment for the rest of your life, though. See how it works for you, and if it helps, then you'll keep it up. Also, maybe start with once every couple of weeks instead of every week? Finally, I'd recommend that you do not do strenuous exercise on your fasting day. Use it as a day to let your body rest and recuperate. Your body uses a lot of nutrients in a heavy workout, and if you won't be replacing those until the next day, it could be needlessly taxing for your body. Of course you should talk to your doctor to determine if there are any safety issues with your plan. Everyone is different and your doctor knows you best.
